A few days back it was movie night, but somebody is slacking and not keeping up. No naming necessary, kicking people when they are down is not nice.
It was Miss Fab’s turn to choose and she picked:

Another classic musical. Very enjoyable and the music is fun, with “Put on your sunday clothes” and “Hello Dolly” being the most famous. Its long, but the girls made it almost without notice, so I would mark it as worth it.
There is a fantastic sequence in the restaurant towards the end, which is oh so good.

This week we got our free blu-ray player that came in with the TV and Mr.Blab was sure he wanted to see it in its full glory and so went out to the movie rental store to find a suitable disc. And he came back with this:

What a wonderful little movie. I didnt have great expectations for it, but it surprised me with its understated approach and dealing with issues that are quite current.
Not much dialogue, but the non-verbal communication between two robots is executed so well, that you dont even notice. The animation is beautiful and the detail on blu-ray takes your breath away, but further into the movie I didnt even acknowledge it, as it had pulled me in so well, the technical side went well off my attention radar.

This week was my turn to pick a movie. My choice was Saturday Night Fever, but the disk would not play at the crucial moment – popcorn ready, people in seats..pressure.
So I made a call on the spot and this was it:

This movie is from 1968, quite a few years back. Its 2.5 hours long and its pushing it a bit. The story is about Fanny who comes from the poor part of town and has a dream of being an actress. Gets her way through and becomes a success. Meets up Nick, the gambler, and a love affair blossoms. The trials and tribulations around all that with a few songs, some better than others. “People” and “Dont Rain on My Parade” come from this musical.
I enjoyed it, but the story line was a bit thin and the characters didnt win me over, or maybe its because Baby Blab called me a few times and I lost the plot.

It was Ms.Fab’s turn to choose a movie, so…surprise, surprise! Harry Potter it is!
She has been a fan for awhile and what really amazed me is that she still enjoys the books, even though she has seen all the movies already.
She took one camera off for it being scary
. Me? I still prefer the first one.

Mr.Blab and I were discussing what to do for Valentines and it was decided that since it was movie night as well, to combine it and make a nibbles picnic in the living room and watch a love movie with the kiddies.
It was the little one’s turn to chose what we watch, so I gave her the option of Funny Girl, Funny Lady, West Side Story and Hello Dolly. She picked the gang one
So I went to our favorite grocery shop and picked a few yummy things, Mr.Blab brought home the deserts and we were ready.

One of the traditions in our house is Movie Night, a Saturday night splurge on a pad in the living room with a big…huge bowl of freshly popped corn and a movie. We watch all kinds of films and the choice is taken in all kinds of ways – voting, group decision, luck of the draw, bribing, whining, manipulation, parent authority..all is fair.
This is what we watched tonight:![]()

I am sure most of you will cringe at the idea of showing your kids a movie about drag queens, but we are not one of these people. We had been listening and dancing to the music of the movie for awhile and Mr.Blab found the DVD this week, so we were waiting with excitement to watch it.
Here is some information on the movie – Widipedia
And did you know they have a musical now as well – Priscilla Musica
Here is how it scored in our house:

We had a great time. Ms.Fab was quite disappointed when it ended and asked for a costume like one of those in the movie. When Priscilla (the bus) got painted with gay slur, I asked her why she thought the people did that to the main characters and she said:
- Cause they are different.
And arent they fabulous!
